Celebrating 50 Years of Service
Thanks to the vision of Robert S. Morrison and a group of visionary leaders working together to “improve the lives of people in Ashtabula County” Northeast Ohio Regional Airport celebrated its 50th Anniversary last week.
Thank you Cleveland Foundation
With the financial assistance of the FAA and the Ashtabula County Aviation Trust Fund managed by the Cleveland Foundation, we are currently undergoing an $8.5 million runway rehabilitation, shift, and safety area expansion which will result in a 5,900 foot x 100 foot runway capable of serving almost any business of private aircraft in the Nation’s fleet. This will assure that we continue serving high-end business class jet aircraft, and provide a welcome doorway to our region for attracting industry, jobs, and visitors. Runway improvements will enhance safe operations for aircraft of all sizes. Upon completion of the projects, Northeast Ohio Regional Airport will become the 3rd safety compliant Airport out of 102 public Airports in Ohio!
Looking Back
From our beginnings in 1965, the Airport’s mission has been to function as an economic development engine within the northeast Ohio region. Today, with an Airport able to serve the vast majority of aircraft involved in growing industry and jobs, inexpensive utilities, good roads, and rail and port systems, Ashtabula County is poised to compete on a state and national level.
Looking Forward
Our vision is to become a world-class business aviation facility that also meets the highest standard of services and facilities for small, private operators as well. We welcome you to come visit us in person or online, and let us help you grow with us.
Here’s to another 50 years of success!
